XC
Safe Style & Equitation Award
The purpose of the program is to
recognize and reward those competitors seen to be riding in a safe
manner and who show good cross country riding technique.
After a successful
trial run of the OHTA's exciting new "style" award, we are expanding
for 2010. The Cross Country Equitation and Safety Award will now be
available for up to three competition venues to host during the 2010
Ontario season. We are hoping for competition venues to come forward
and offer to host this award, as we continue to develop this program
into a provincial wide standard award.
At the 2009 OHTA
Banquet, the inaugural "OHTA Cross Country Equitation and Style
Award" (award sponsored by Dreamcrest) was presented to Edie Tarves,
who was the highest ranked XC style rider at the 2009 Championships
at Headwaters.
The 2010 version of
the award will be much the same as 2009, with a few edits of the
marking scheme and judging criteria. We welcome input from
organizers with suggestions to help improve this exciting award.
In 2010 we set out to accomplish:
-
develop a set of criteria to assess
technique,
-
compile a list of qualified
adjudicators available to select the winner,
-
sponsor a prize for this award
and promote the program via Website and year end awards.
In 2011 we propose to:
-
select 3 organizing venues to host the
award,
-
supply judges,
-
supply marking schemes,
-
supply awards,
-
Continue to develop and raise
awareness of this award- via Website and year end awards,
-
Locate Sponsorship.
