Competition Improvement Program
The purpose of the Competition Improvement Program (CIP) is to help Event Organizers improve and expand their competition sites, which in turn will improve and enhance the sport of Eventing in Ontario for competitors at all levels. Funding is available for course design, site maintenance and improvement and special projects. This program also offers interest free loans. It is available to all Organizers with events listed in the current year omnibus.
For more information on the Competition Improvement Program, check out its page in our Resources Section.
Growing the Sport
Our Growing the Sport initiative allows riders to try competing at an OHTA event without purchasing membership. Pony Club members in good standing who have active memberships with the Ontario Equestrian Federation & Canadian Pony Club are eligible to show at any OHTA Events, without restriction, up to a maximum of 3 events each calendar year (January – December). There is no cost for junior members to take advantage of this offer. Senior members will pay $10 per year to participate.
For more information on participating in this program, visit our Growing the Sport page.
In recognition of the commitment and expense required by officials (and those wishing to become officials), to maintain or upgrade their status, continue their education and to support ongoing education, the OHTA offers an Officials Bursary Program. The program provides monetary assistance for officials and potential officials in order to attend educational programs. For more information on this program, and how to apply, please see our Officials’ Bursary Page.
One Event at a Time
The One Event at a Time program imposes a $5 levy on every entry in an OHTA show. These funds are used to encourage organizers to commit to long-term improvements to their venues through hosting the annual OHTA Championships. Each year we select the championship venue and up to two additional venues from those that apply to host. We enter into contracts with each of these organizers and disburse funds for facility upgrades. As the Championship event moves to a different venue every year, this allows us to consistently upgrade facilities throughout the province.
For more information on this program, please see our One Event at a Time page.
Volunteer Incentive Program
As a thank you to the wonderful volunteers who keep our sport running, the OHTA implemented the Volunteer Incentive Program. All the names of the volunteers from each recognized event throughout the season are collected and a prize draw is held just prior to the Annual General Meeting & Year-End Banquet.
For more information on this program, please see our Volunteer Incentive Program page.
